Just in case you are wondering why I do quote posts relatively often:

I use friendica to be able to communicate with people in the diaspora network and people in the the activityPub network. These are not compatible - so activityPub folks can't communicate directly with diaspora folks and vice versa.

Friendica is able to communicate with both.

By using quote post functionality my intention is to to share something I've seen in one of the two networks with the folks of the other one. This works in both directions. People still can't directly communicate with the original authors due to the network barrier, but with friendica I can simply do reshares this way. In my opinion this is an awesome use case for quote posts :-)

Slowly getting better in smith grinds! I started to focus on pinch point to get more stability and when I feel safe enough I with pinch point I'll go for longer grinds :-D

This was yesterday evening at skatehalle.berlin :-) True, it's just a 50:50 - but this curb is not so easy to grind. To stay on the curb for so long is the challenge. I don't really know what it is, but it feels little weird sometimes to grind this one. It is kind of mellow. Wax helps a log for sure to make it more slippery to make it possible to grind it for longer, but for example when I come from the other sind and make barley grind on it (barley is FS 180 to SW FS smith grind) which is one of my absolute favorite grinds, then I'm usually just able to grind it's half, because I wasn't yet able to stay on it for so long.

A good challenge for sure. Another goal of mine on this curb is to grind the whole one with good speed in a solid way and finish with 360 out at the end :-)

When discover a place that you want to skate one day and which is quite a challange...
when you start to visit the place again and again to check respectfully if you really want it...
when you have visited the place a few times now and you ask your friends to be there with you soon and once the day has come....

The emotional chaos before... when you need half an hour or more... you start and ride the direction and see how it feels like and repeat this a few times.

If you then just make the decision to go for it and really go for it - if you get closer then and you just continue....

when you go beyond the point of being able to stop... and then you realize to go for it is the only way...

... when you "stay cool" even if the thrill kicks and you jump....

... when you are in the air and you forget everything else and you feel this special kind of joy....

This is skating <3

I see quite often skaters ride with half-open ball bearings. The theory behind this is that the dirt comes in easily and goes out that easy, too. Sounds somehow logical and weird at the same time - so I want to test that soon times. Have just prepared an old set of bearings :-)

@alanszlosek
They didn't put grease in the bearings. I see it super often and so far all of the people I asked said that they've made good experiences. So I decided to try it out and make my own experiences :-)

I have got a peertube account where I plan to upload my skate content. On friendica currently it doesn't work as expected - on mastodon / hometown I don't really want to upload my skate clips, because those accounts are meant for another purpose, or a different focus. I hope peertube works as expected, because I think it would be awesome to have place just for skate content.

Yesterday I learned: overwilly stall on the quarter.

So, willy is like a smith grind, but front truck on the coping and back truck hanging down.
Overwilly is like a feeble grind, but front truck on the coping and back truck over the coping and above the platform on top.
I ended with continuing the turn in front-side direction (so a bit less then 90 degrees) to get back into the transition of the ramp in regular direction.
